Das dieses Buch sich Bestimmungsbuch nennt, ist schon verwunderlich. Ganze Familien werden an ein, zwei oder drei Vertretern dargestellt. Was hilft das bei einer Bestimmung der 99 anderen Familienmitglieder - außer dass man weiss, dass es wohl ein Drückerfisch ist. Das gewählte Gebiet von Rotem Meer bis Philippinen ist zu gross und seine Bewohner zu artenreich, als das dieses Buch helfen würde. Verbreitungskarten fehlen ebenso wie Schemazeichnungen von besonderen Erkennungsmerkmalen. Ganz informativ sind die Texte zur Lebensweise, die einem etwas Hintergrund vermitteln ... mehr als manch echtes Bestimmungsbuch. Die Platikhülle ist ein praxistaugliches Utensil für die Lektüre noch mit tauchfeuchten Fingern...nett - aber für einen an Bestimmung interessierten Taucher zu wenig!
